Twitter renovates the Moments feature for Rio2016

The Microblogging site Twitter recently put to update the functionality of its moment's feature. The change remains exclusive for Rio2016. The site intends to make easy for the people to follow the Games on the platform.
Earlier, the moments on Twitter stayed for some hours or few days. Now the tweets about the games would feature in the timeline for weeks at a time.

As the company explains, the idea is to provide better Sports following to the people. Now users don't need to follow various handles or search hashtags to follow the sport they fancy. They can instead just follow their game or event. Users have access to those tweets for weeks on their timeline.

The moments feature also has Recap Moments. This would help the people to catch up the missed updates. Recap moments will give you a complete highlight of the results, medal count, and other notable news items.
The live Olympic Moments for select sports and events will be available in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Japan, the UK and the US.

This new moments feature reminds us of the 'Twitter track' which enabled the users to follow the topics they relate to rather than the accounts. In the present times, search hashtags and algorithmic timelines outshined this old feature.

Along with moments, Twitter is also rolling out 207 team emojis. These emojis get activated when a user types the three-word country code hashtag for the nation they support. Over 50 sports and Olympics emoji are also available with respective hashtags. Twitter is providing these hashtags in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Sports Emojis, #Rio2016, and #Olympics are also available in Japanese, Korean, and Arabic. Twitter will bring the emojis and moments in days to come but has already included the dedicated moments section.

Twitter is striving to make an impactful Olympic coverage. Twitter Amplify will give video highlights of the events in Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, and the United States.

Twitter seems desperate to take its still user count to upper levels. It now has the intentions to use popular sports for the purpose.
