Motorola Mobility, the hived off firm from Motorola Corp, under the aegis of Lenovo, is driving a hard bargain for us to look up and take notice of their doings in the tech world. Since the time Motorola has moved from its parent company to Google and then onto Lenovo (a move that did turn quite a few heads, as Google was touted to be the white knight by acquiring them), Motorola has been belting out winners in the low-priced and mid-priced smartphone segments.
This takeover by Lenovo was also not short of its own niggles. There were the sentiments that the US had sold out to China again and Lenovo branding the Moto phones as ‘Moto a Lenovo brand’ leading to displeasures being sounded all over the world. They even re-entered the premium category with their offering of the Motorola Moto Z and its succession with its modified project ARA concept of slightly different working modes like the zoom camera & additional battery pack mod magnetically sticking to the back of the phone.
Motorola has now said to be setting up for release a new phone apart from the ones already known, i.e., Moto X4, Moto G5S, Moto G5S Plus (a grand thank you to the world of ready tipsters) in a few months.
The newest Motorola to hit town
GFXbench, the unified cross-platform 3D graphics benchmark database has recently made us sit up and take notice of a certain device code named XT1789 by Motorola. The details pertaining to the specifications of this device are even scarcer than the hope of seeing an actual unicorn in our day to day real lives. It, however, does shed enough light for us to make a few assumptions which equate to the new phone being a variant of the soon to be released Moto X4.
The phone is rumored to sport a smaller-than-the-regular-these-days 5.0 inch full HD display, with nothing being known about the resolution. The form factor being 5 inches though can make one safely assume that it will be 1920X1080p. The chipset to power the phone has not been disclosed. What has been revealed though is that it’s a Qualcomm 2.2 GHz SoC along with an Adreno 508 GPU. The specification states that it can either be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 or even the 660 SoC. The RAM is quoted to be 3GB with 16GB of ROM.
The Icing on the Cake
The reason why the phone stands out is because of its front and rear camera specifications. The rear cam unit is said to be a 4:3 12MP sensor whereas the front is a 16:9 MP sensor giving us the clue that it will be a selfie-centric device.
The Final Render
We will have to wait to know how this phone turns out to be and how well it lives up to the latest strides that Motorola is making, once it releases and is tested. Until then, let’s focus on the July 25th event of Motorola.
