Google announced its Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) Project in February this year. The project objected to accelerate the web browsing experience on m0bile phones. The accelerated mobile pages would reduce the loading time 0f the pages on mobile browsers.
Google says that the results of the project will be seen as soon as the start of 2017.
A new update on AMP Project disclosed some facts. It says thousands of the publishers expressed the desire to optimise their pages. These include big names like CBS Interactive, Thrillist, International Business Times/Newsweek, Al Jazeera America, AOL, and others. Also, the ad partners Outbrain, AOL, OpenX, DoubleClick, and AdSense plan to work with the new framework.
The AMPs would soon make their way into the search pages. They now feature just in Top Storie's carousals. The idea behind the project is the fast delivery of news and articles to mobile users. Now the concept even includes e-commerce, entertainment, travel, recipe, and other sites. The official blog gave the news.
Google shared an early preview of the expanded support of AMP. The feature now supports the whole search results page of mobile browsers. Earlier it used to limit itself to the Top Stories carousel. They now have a lightning symbol next to AMP as the label. It quite resembles the representation of mobile friendly pages by Google.
Google in its blog clarified that the AMPs would not affect website rankings. The feature is just to provide faster browsing to the mobile users. The Google ranking system has a priority for faster loads. The VP of Engineering at Google, David Besbris says that out of two identical pages, the browser will now show the AMP one.
Google has more than 150 million AMP articles with 4 million weekly addition, as the official blog read. The fast work of these AMPs is visible on the demo page of AMP on mobiles. When searching any recipe or music lyrics of the favourite artist, the AMP provides faster reads.
Google described the AMP Project as the technical specification for faster pages. Some found the project competing tool of Google to combat Facebook's Instant Articles. It's the programme of Facebook to host the content of the publisher in the Newsfeed.
Both Google and Facebook launched their tool to overcome the problem of late page loadings. For Google, it's AMP and for Facebook, it's instant articles. The instant article is hosting the contents of many big publishers. The same way AMP is targeting to revolutionise mobile browsing with speedy pages.
Google released the Accelerated Mobile Pages for all the platforms in April.
