The latest Android version distribution data as posted by Google show a positive change for Marshmallow. The data indicates that 15.2 percent of the active devices are running Android Marshmallow. The figures corresponded to the one-week period that ended on August 1.

Last month, the version of Android had 13.3 percent of users from the active devices. Thus the numbers show a rise of 1.9 percent in a single month. A couple of months back it merely had 10 percent of active devices.

The adoption of Marshmallow has a stable growth rate. Be it by up gradations or by offerings in new devices, the growth rate is slow and steady. Five months after its release for Nexus devices, Marshmallow occupied 1 percent of active devices in February. These are the high numbers considering the knocking of the doors by Android 7.o Nougat. There are much curiosity and talking about the 7.0 version in the Android world.

Most of the versions showed drops in the user percentage. Marshmallow includes itself in the list of the few that upped their stats.

The Google Play distribution data for August show positives for Lollipop as well. Android Lollipop according to stats has 35.5 percent of active Android devices. The version 5.0 is covering 14.1, and the 5.1 version is covering 21.4 percent of total Android devices. This release saw a rise of 0.4 percent from the 35.1 percent as recorded the last month.

Android Kit Kat currently features on 29.2 percent of the active devices. Its usage dropped by 0.9 percent from last month's count of 30.1 percent.

Android Jelly Bean used to hold its place in 17.8 percent devices in last month. Now it has dropped by 11.1 percent to settle at 16.7 percent of all devices. Android 4.0.x or Ice Cream Sandwich witnesses a downfall of 0.1 percent from 1.7 percent in July to 1.6 percent in August.

Android Gingerbread combining all the versions from 2.3.3 to 2.3.7, engages 1.6 percent of Android devices. It dropped by 1.9 percent from previous month's tally of 3.5 percent. Android 2.2 Froyo is stable at its 0.1 percent share. All the above figures are the gatherings from the Android 2.2 above devices visiting Google Play app.

The current Android version distribution stats also disclose that the OpenGL 2.0 has 46 percent of active Android devices in its kitty. The 3.0 version of it covers 42.6 percent and 3.1 runs on 11.4 percent of them.

With all the news about the innovative features of the new Android 7.0 Nougat, the users will migrate in a large number to it. So the other versions are left with their chances only before the release of the Nougat. The stats currently favour Marshmallow over others.
