It is important to note that the quality of hardware of smartphones that are priced at less than Rs. 15,000 isn’t exactly the best and hence they will start to show their age a lot sooner than others. Keeping this in mind, we have put together a list of all good picks in this price category.
While some of you might have a particular feature in mind when you go out to buy smartphones, like camera technology or battery life, this list does an overall performance comparison without focusing on specific features like that. This means that the entire list below is of smartphones that are performers in general and ‘master of none.’ Here is our full list of smartphones priced between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 15000. Pls note that this is in no particular order of preference or rating.
Moto G4 Plus
For quite some time now Motorola has been popular for smartphones in the range of Rs. 10,000 – Rs. 15,000 with its flagship models that were available online only. Moto G4 is another decent choice from the brand. Yes, the camera has a lot pf scope for improvement even though it is undoubtedly one of the good looking phones in this segment. Performance in all other aspects is quite satisfactory. It has a sleek design and solid built. The display quality is vivid, and the battery lasts really long. The camera is not so great in low light situations. The phone also doesn’t support NFC.
The 16 GB variant is available for Rs. 13499 in white and black both. There is also a 32GB variant that retails at Rs. 14,999. All prices mentioned are from maazon.com
LeEco Le 2
LeEco 2 was launched earlier this year in April. This phone has a good performance and battery life at affordable price. The 8-megapixel front camera is slightly disappointing. However the 16-megapixel rear camera works decently well. Another feature, or the lack of it, that seems hard to justify, is the missing 3.5mm connector adaptor for audio. Additionally, you get a Le Ecosystem subscription for a year absolutely free. It comes with 32 GB in built storage but there is no provision for storage to be expanded. The phone was designed with Android 6.0.1 version operating system and boasts of a 5.5-inch display along with 1.8GHz processor.
32 GB variant is available in Rose Gold and Grey colours on Flipkart for Rs. 11,999.
Lenovo Zuk Z1
The Lenovo Zuk Z1 is one of the best picks on this list. It has an excellent battery life and comes with capacity of 4100mAh. The phone is well built and looks very sleek. There are a lot of screen customization features available for the 5.50-inch display. The phone comes with a 3GB RAM and 2.5GHz processor and works well with Android 5.1.1 version. 13-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera do a decent job of taking pictures in all lightings.
On the downs side, the storage is not expandable, and that can be the deal breaker for many. Unlocking the phone is also not as easy as on other phones.
Lenovo Zuk Z1 is available in 64 GB in white and space grey versions for Rs. 13499 on Amazon. It ca get difficult to get a hold of this one, but if you are lucky, this is going to be a good phone for just anyone.
Xiaomi Mi Max
The only thing that sets the Xiaomi Mi Max back amongst its competitors is its size. The 6.44-inch screen essentially means it comes close to a tablet than a phone. If you can get past this one design anomaly, the rest of the package is something to boast off. The battery life on this one is sensational; it even lasted for a stellar 21 hours in an industry test. The designing of the model is quite pleasing, and the build quality is solid. What’s more is that it even support 4k video which is missing in most of its competitors. The front camera of 5 megapixels and rear camera of 16 megapixels are decent ones but can be problematic in extremely low light conditions. Storage is capped at in built 32 GB.
Xiaomi Mi Max is available in 32 GB in gold and silver on Amazon for Rs. 14,999 while the gold version 32 GB is also available in Flipkart Rs. 14,998.
Huawei Honor 5C LTE
This list is honestly incomplete without mentioning the new Honor 5C LTE. It has a great battery life with 3000mAh capacity and looks nice. The build quality is quite nice as well. The fingerprint sensor on this one is one of the most accurate among all phone in this price segment. The 5.20-inch screen with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution can look a bit dull at times. It comes with 8 megapixels front camera and 13 megapixel rear cameras. It was designed for Android 6.0 and has a 1.7GHz processor.
The 16GB variant of Huawei Honor 5C is available in gold, grey and silver on Flipkart for Rs. 10,999
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
Although it was launched in November 2015, it continues to perform consistently in the category of under Rs. 15,000. It comes with a 5.50-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.
This wonder from Xiaomi runs on 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor. The storage is inbuilt 16GB of internal storage but it can be expanded up to 128GB by using a microSD card. It also comes packed with a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera which is being touted as one of the best for taking selfies in this price segment.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 price in India starts from Rs. 9999.
